These are wedding vendors I genuinely enjoy working with – people I trust, respect, and have seen perform calmly and competently when it matters most. They communicate well, solve problems quietly, and enhance the day for everyone involved.

Overview

This initiative is the launch of a professional photography education program in Newfoundland, beginning in 2026. It is designed and led by full-time working photographers and structured to be paid, sustainable, and repeatable.

The goal is to create something that has long existed in other markets, but has been missing here – a credible, instructor-led educational ecosystem that benefits both photographers and the broader creative community, including potential Newfoundland wedding partners and various wedding vendors.

This is not a camera club, a volunteer effort, or a casual meetup.

Event Formats

1. Flagship Conferences (Spring & Fall)

• 2–3 days

• 20–30 attendees

• 4–6 instructors

• Hosted at Terra Nova Resort

• Structured schedule with talks, breakout sessions, critiques, and guided shooting

These events establish credibility, create momentum, and anchor the annual calendar, offering opportunities for photography discounts and networking with local wedding vendors.

2. Small-Group Location Workshops

• 1–2 days

• 8–12 attendees

• 1–3 instructors

• Hosted in locations such as Twillingate, Bonavista, Port Rexton, Elliston, and Corner Brook

• Hands-on, location-specific, skill-focused

These workshops are intentionally intimate and premium, fostering collaboration between photographers and potential Newfoundland wedding partners.

Instructor Roles

Each event clearly defines instructor responsibilities to avoid ambiguity or hierarchy confusion.

• Lead Instructor(s) Owns the core theme or curriculum for the event.

• Supporting Instructor(s) Delivers defined sessions, leads shooting groups, or facilitates critiques.

Roles may change between events.

Compensation

This is paid professional work.

Compensation principles:

• Instructors are paid for teaching time

• Travel and accommodations are covered for multi-day events

• Revenue splits are transparent and agreed upon in advance

• No “exposure” or unpaid teaching roles

Exact numbers vary by event size and pricing, but sustainability is a non-negotiable priority.

Expectations

Instructors are expected to:

• Deliver agreed-upon sessions or instruction

• Be present and engaged during the event

• Collaborate professionally with other instructors

• Allow reasonable use of event images/video for promotion

Instructors are not expected to:

• Work for free

• Sell aggressively

• Be constantly “on” outside scheduled sessions

Timeline

• Instructor interest confirmed in early 2026

• Dates and venues locked shortly after

• Public announcements roll out once instructors are confirmed

• Full promotion begins with confirmed dates and leaders

Participation

Participation is opt-in.

If the timing, format, or commitment level isn’t right, no worries.

The intent is to build something long-term with people who genuinely want to share and create together.
